The important indicator of a world-class university as well as its international outlook lies in a strong contingent of
teachers with high international academic caliber. Therefore, USTC plans to introduce the “Visiting Professor International” project, which strives to make the most out of international cooperation resources and to be more flexible so as to introduce
internationally prominent teachers of the new era to USTC. Jointly led, coordinated and implemented by the Office of
International Cooperation, the Human Resource Department, the Graduate School and the Office of Teaching Affairs, this
project expressly gives precedence to academic study and research and, strict adherence to structure optimization. The basic principle is to persevere in strict assessment, merit-based employ, contract administration and dynamic adjustment.
Employers (schools/national (key) laboratories) can recommend candidates to the Office of International Cooperation
who can contribute to the pursuit for discipline construction, teaching excellence and scientific research. Review will be
conducted twice annually by the Review and Evaluation Board composed of specialists recommended by the Office of
International Cooperation, the Human Resource Department, the Graduate School and the Office of Teaching Affairs.
This project has been implemented seven times since its launch in 2013, and has already invited 95 international visiting professors from 20 countries.
